This weekend, the Uptown Art Festival in Minneapolis is expected to draw 375,000 people. The fair is usually #2 in statewide event attendance, following directly the Minnesota State Fair, which will take place during the Labor Day weekend.

Uptown is a popular business and entertainment district in southwestern Minneapolis, Minnesota, centered at the Uptown Theater  (the former Lagoon) at the intersection of Hennepin Avenue and Lagoon Avenue. The district is known for it's many restaurants and movie theaters. It's also a hip address for offices, featuring many coffee shops and also retail stores. It's not dead at night like many other "office cities". Over 30,000 residents call the Uptown area their home.

Uptown Art Fair 2010 Hours


FRIDAY, AUGUST 6: noon-8pm

SATURDAY, AUGUST 7: 10am-8pm

SUNDAY, AUGUST 8: 10am-6pm

The Uptown Art Fair is located at the intersection of Lake Street and Hennepin Avenue and “The Mall” in Southwest Minneapolis. During the event, Art Fair Headquarters will be located at 1440 W. Lake St.

Uptown Art Fair offers Complimentary Bike Valet Parking


At the intersection of Humboldt Avenue and The Mall, near the Midtown Greenway trail a complimentary bike valet parking is being offered during the fair. It is open daily, 15 minutes before the fair opens, until 15 minutes after the fair closes.  Minneapolis is known as one of the best American cities for biking.

Free Metro Transit Art Hop Bus


There are three art fairs during first weekend in August, the Loring Park Art Festival, the Uptown Art Fair and the Powderhorn Art FairYou can visit all of them by using the free Metro Transit Art Hop.

On Saturday, Aug. 7, and Sunday, Aug. 8, you can ride free between the Loring Park Art Festival, Uptown Art Fair, Powderhorn Art Fair and the Lake Street/Midtown light-rail station. By using the free Art Hop, you avoid the hassles of having to find a parking spot. The Art Hop buses drive in 20 minute intervals and it takes about 15 minutes to go from one fair to the next.
