Many a Direct TV users had a very strange experience with their Direct TV remotes in the morning. The remote control was not working properly and the TV sets were apparently stuck on one channel. The customer service number was not easy to locate on the Direct TV homepage. The Direct TV homepage only lists a sales number where you can order new service or equipment.

You can get updates on the status of the problem by following Direct TV on their twitter account: Direct TV Twitter account: twitter.com/directv. They state that they are experiencing higher than usual call volume as expected and are working on a solution to the problem right now. Sometimes it helps to just unplug the unit, wait a minute and replug. That way the system can reset itself.

Update from Direct TV:
We are in the process of implementing a fix for today's HD DVR issue. Your receiver may reset itself but this is expected. Try unplugging the unit from the wall, wait 15sec, then replug, & repeat to restore service.
The DirecTV software update that was done during the night, is locking up HD DVRs nationwide. You can fix it by reseting your unit twice.
Have been calling the above customer service(?)numbers, off and on for over 6 hrs. NO ANSWER! Remote / receiver control lost on two receivers at once.
ردحذفTried the double reset, within 30 mins routine. Control on one receiver restored, but response is very slow. Channel changes take about 5 sec.
ردحذفTried reset twice as well, no go. Remote still not working nor is any of the buttons on the front of the DVR. The TV will come on and play the last channel with the info bar for the channel on top displayed and never going off.
