Have you ever wanted your coworkers to know that you are busy? Have you ever wanted to let a band that was playing live in front of you know you love their music? Have you ever seen those LED construction signs and wanted something like them? Well, if you say yes to any of the above questions, I have found the perfect iPad app for you: Banner for iPad.
This app allows you to display a personal message that will scroll over your iPad's display. This message is large so you can read it from a long distance back.
You can enter up to five different messages hand have them scroll across the screen individually or sequentially. You can edit these messages whenever you wish.
With Banner for iPad you can also display today's date, the current time, Twitter's tweets, and iPod-playing music information. This makes this app that much better. It is so much fun to use and it is a great way to communicate with a friend or coworker that is quite a distance away from you.
You can set the display to blink as well as use a mirror display and you can display your message upside down. You can also put it into a sleep disabled mode.
If you wish, you can also ajust the scrolling speed. This will allow you to display your text that scrolls very slowly or faster, faster, faster! (Not at the same time. You set a speed for your text to scroll at, of course.)
Banner for iPad allows you to select from 6 different shapes and any color to display on your LED screen.
There are versions of this app for the iPhone, however nothing quite compares to the large, bright display of the iPad. With this app you really can communicate over a distance while the iPhone apps just kind of simulate that capability.

This is a wonderful app that has a lot of potential. There are just a few improvements that could be made.
1. A choice of font size. This would allow users to decide how big their message should be.
2. Disable text scrolling. This would allow users to display a single smaller word on the entire display that doesn't move. It would have to have a blink function that works even when the scroll is disabled.
All in all, the developer - Akamatsu - has done a really great job with this application.
This app is compatible only with the Apple iPad and it requires iPhone OS 3.2 or higher.
[rating: 4/5]
This is an excellent app with a lot of features, however the above mentioned features could be added to improve the user experience.
