Other men who topped the list in prior years Mel Gibson, John F. Kennedy Jr., Harrison Ford and Richard Gere, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp.
The Canadian native told People: "The sexiest thing about Canadians is that there's an inherent ability to be self-deprecating. That has served me well in my career and personal life."
People announced its 2010 list on Wednesday. But so far they only leaked some pictures, as they hope to propell the newsstand sales of the next issue, which is available on Friday.
Whether Ryan Reynolds is really the sexiest man alive or not, depends on who judges.
