Obama Speech - End of U.S. Combat in Iraq

Presidential Address

President Barack Obama today gave the long awaited presidential address in the Oval Office about the stop of combat in Iraq. This speech gave all the details how the U.S. is ending its combat mission in Iraq and giving the power to the now stabilized Iraqi Government. He also acknowledged U.S. troops and saluted their sacrifices to their country.

It looks like this topic was not one of Mr. Obama's favorites. The flow of speech is usually much more relaxed. But it is understandable. Stopping the engagement of U.S. troops is not without risks and there are many voices that want to make believe that the timing was not perfect.

But that is politics: One person acts and all the bystanders are know-bests. I have yet to meet one of the critics that has the courage of Mr. Obama.

He and his wife have pursued throughout their lives trying to help citizens of the United States of America. There are many critics of Mr. Obama, however, there are also many who support him.

One thing that is great about this is that when Obama was campaigning, he promised to end conflict in Iraq. Also, when he first got into office, he continued to promise this. Now, he has finally followed through on his promise. A President who keeps his word is, in my opinion, a President to be admired.

Barack Obama meets George W. Bush

During his speech Mr. Obama mentioned that he meet yesterday with the former U.S. President George W. Bush and he mentioned that they both agreed on the bravery of our troops and that they both were basically patriots that want the best for our country. He admitted that they had opposing viewpoints on the starting of the war in Iraq, however.

The presidential address was by the way more important then the prime time TV schedule. All four big channels and the cable news channels were broadcasting the Presidents address live from 8:00 PM until 8:15 PM. While some networks like to make snide remarks on occasionally on some of Mr. Obama's speeches, they all know that he can increase the audience more than any soap opera or so called reality TV show. And as we all know, the more viewers, the more cash in the box for the news channels.

The end of U.S. combat in Iraq is a great step forward to rebuilding our economy. For over the past 7 years, over $1 trillion has been spent on war. With that war over, there is no need to keep spending that money and we can use it to rebuild our economy and to help limit the damages that the effect has had on the American people.

President Obama Makes A Speech Announcing the End of United States Combat in Iraq

Today, President Obama delivered a speech from the Oval Office. He employed a number of nautical metaphors about sailing through turbulent seas and storms in his speech.

He spoke to announce the end of America's combat role in the war in Iraq. Today, as the President put it, was a day to begin to "turn the page" -- a day when America could turn its focus towards building itself back up from a devastating recession.

It's been 7 years since the war in Iraq officially started, and even longer since there's been peace between the United States and other Middle Eastern countries. Very many people sacrificed their lives in the war, and those who are still alive are happy to be going home.

All U.S. troops will be back home by the end of next year as was agreed with the Iraq government. During the time until then, the U.S. will continue to support the government there, and will also help prepare to country for the complete departure of U.S. troops as Iraq has, if anything, become used to having American soldiers around to help, so it might be a bit difficult at first when they're all gone.

The President also mentioned that Vice President Joe Biden is in Iraq now. He spent the day meeting with Iraqi leaders about working with America's diplomatic team going forward.

"This was my pledge to the American people as a candidate for this office.  Last February, I announced a plan that would bring our combat brigades out of Iraq, while redoubling our efforts to strengthen Iraq’s Security Forces and support its government and people.

Obama also says that even though American troops are leaving Iraq, we will continue to support the Iraqi Government's efforts, and that America will be their partner. "The Iraqi people will have a strong partner in the United States.  Our combat mission is ending, but our commitment to Iraq’s future is not."

We will wait to see how this all works out, and it could happen that Iraq is able to build up a strong government and is able to spread democracy.

Video Allegedly Shows Brandon Spikes Naked

A video surfaced today that supposedly shows the Patriots Linebacker Brandon Spikes having rather private communications with a girl, so to speak. This was reported by the Huffingtonpost.

The video was first offered to Deadspin.com by an emailer for $1,500. But the web site refused, as it was not clear whether the tape really showed Brandon Spikes, the Patriots rookie linebacker. Only hours later the dubious footage appeared on WorldStarHipHop.

Deadspin.com commented on the video: "The Chatroulette performance that wasn't quite up to our athlete dong standards finally finds a home".

The Boston Herald reports, that the video has been recorded at the time when Spikes was in college.

Brandon Spikes, the rookie Patriots linebacker is supposedly naked in that video, which was recorded a Chatroulette interaction. The video is said to be filmed in a hotel room.

Before being drafted during the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft for the Patriots, Spikes was a star for the Florida Gators.

Anne Hathaway's New Hair

Alright folks, there has been quite the debate over if Anne Hathaway chopped off all her hair or if it was just a wig. Well, I will give you the facts and then we can be done with the question of yes or no.

Anne Hathaway did not chop off her hair or have it chopped off for that matter. She was spotted on the set of her upcoming film One Day in Paris, she was spotted with a very short cropped hair cut. But no worries, her rep confirmed that its just a wig and underneath is her beautiful hair.

It would have been a very big change for the star if she would have chopped off her hair, since we are so used to seeing her with her beautiful wavey hair. Even though Anne would still look stunning with short hair since in all the pictures of her wearing the short cut wig she looks great.

At first when i saw the picture of her with short hair it was a big shock, but the more times you look at it you can start to see that it doesn't look bad at all.

Hathaway just has those type of features that any hairstyle would suit her. She has such great eyes and lovely lips.

There are not a lot of people who can rock short hair and long hair both. Anne is definitely an exception. She looks great either way.

I know from personal experience that I can only rock the long hair. I tried going short once, and well let's just say, it wasn't the best look. I'm sure you get my drift.

Will Hurricane Earl Hit Long Island? - Projected Path

Hurricane Earl is in the Atlantic moving northwest at 14 miles per hour. So far, it seems that Earl is moving the same way that the infamous Hurricane Gloria did in 1985. Hurricane Gloria was a very powerful Category 5 hurricane that moved along the the Atlantic until it moved directly over Long Island and into New England with winds of 85 mile per hour. It left an immense path of damage worth an estimated $900 million in 1985 dollars.

As of this afternoon, a hurricane watch is in effect for the area north of Surf City North Carolina up to the North Carolina/Virginia border, including the Pamlico and Albemarle sounds.

"We do not have a forecasted landfall, but we do expect impacts along the coast," Federal Emergency Management Agency head Craig Fugate told reporters. Winds from the approaching storm churned up seas along the coastline from Florida to Massachusetts.

"Evacuations may be required if the storm doesn't turn," he said. "Today is the day to make sure you have your family disaster plans, that you check your supplies."

What he says is true, if you live anywhere near that area, you should be prepared and have everything you might need if you have to evacuate.

The NOAA also advises that residents from Virginia northward to New England should monitor the progress of Hurricane Earl.

A tropical storm warning is in effect for the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Also, a tropical storm watch is in effect for the southeastern Bahamas and from Cape Fear to Surf City.

Hurricane force winds extend from Earl's center all the way out for 90 miles. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 200 miles.

It's hoped that Earl will circle out farther to sea and that he never reaches land, however, it's best to be prepared. If Earl keeps going strong, it could happen that he goes straight up towards Long Island, so hopefully he will die down before that can happen.

Hurricane Earl Might Spoil Labor Day Vacations

With a Category 4 Hurricane heading towards the East Coast some vacationers might have to re-schedule a little. Maybe going to Florida instead of the East Coast for Labor Day would solve the problem.

Hurricane Earl Projected Path

Hurricane Earl is a Category 4 Tropical Storm, currently playing catch with small boats in the open Atlantic. But with that large and very intense storm progressing northwestward, it's slowly moving towards the U.S. East Coast.

While Earl is only moving with 14 miles per hour, a Hurricane Watch has been issued for the East Coast from north of Surf City to the border of North Carolina and Virginia. The Hurricane Watch includes the Pamlicio and Albemarle sounds.

The tropical storm warning for Turks and Caicos Islands is still in effect and a tropical storm watch has been issued for the Southeastern Bahamas and also from Cape Fear to Surf City. So, if you are living somewhere between Virginia up to New England, you should monitor the progress of Hurricane Earl very closely.

The storm is moving toward the northwest with 14 mph and Earl is expected to continue to move in this direction on Wednesday and then gradually turning to the north-northwest then. Earl should be northeast of the Bahamas tomorrow.
There will be a minor update given on 8:00 PM and a major update at 11:00 PM by the National Hurricane Center.

Even if the Category 4 Hurricane Earl would only slightly touch the East Coast, it would most likely be a pretty rainy weekend.

Tropical Storm Fiona

does not increase the chances of a nice and sunny Labor Day weekend, at least not for the East Coat of the U.S.

While on tour Lady Gaga debuted a brand new song called " Living on the Radio". She was on a stop while on tour and sang her new song. The song is a ballad.

A video of her performing this new song was recorded and posted on YouTube.

Her new single song that isn't released yet also seems to be a bit about herself. Its about how everything will be alright even though you are all alone on the road and how lonely all the fame really makes.

Lady Gaga is just brining out new song after new song and it is excellent. She just works non-stop and gets her music out there.

Microsoft Unveils New Wireless Xbox Controller With Adjustable D-Pad

Microsoft will be offering up an all new Xbox 360 wireless controller that features an adjustable directional-control pad (D-pad).

The controller will be released in the United States on November 9, 2010.

Larry Hryb, the programming director for Xbox live, revealed the new controller on Tuesday on his blog. Hryb, more commonly know as Major Nelos, his gamer tag, shows a video of how the adjustable D-pad will work. He also points out some of the other new features of the new wireless controller.

The D-pad goes from flat to a raised plus controller with a flick of the wrist on the new controller. Hyrb said that the design for the new adjustable D-pad was in response to the many gamers who didn't like the feel of the Xbox's current D-pad. Engineers came up with a solution that was designed to give options for those who wanted a better feel, he said.

In addition to the new D-pad, the matte silver controller also features concave analog control sticks and gray A,B,X,Y buttons for added style. The new buttons' colors are different shade of gray as opposed to the color ones of Xbox's past controllers. This is the first time that an Microsoft has released an Xbox controller without multi colored buttons.

The new device will not be included in console sales, it is only going to be available with the new Play & Charge Kit that will launch for $64.99 on November 9.

The Play & Charge Kit will include a rechargeable battery pack, this allows gamers to lose disposable batteries currently used to power their controllers.

Mark Ingram to Miss University of Alabama Season Opening Game Vs. San Jose State

Mark Ingram, Heisman Trophy winning running back, will miss at least the University of Alabama's season-opening game against San Jose State this week. He is missing the game because of an arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.

Ingram, a junior, was hurt during yesterday's practice. His status will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis, said Alabama coach Nick Saban in a statement.

"It was a situation where everyone involved thought it would be better to take care of it now, so he would not have any issues with it later in the season," said Saban.

Alabama won college football's national championship last season with a 14-0 record. Alabama is hosting San Jose State on September 4, and then they are going to be home to Penn State next week.

Ingram could possibly miss the Penn State game next week too if he isn't alright by then.

"Mark will definitely be out for this week's game. We will make every decision in the future based on what's best for Mark and his career. This is not an injury that will affect Mark's future ability to make a full recovery in a relatively short time frame," continues Saban.

Ingram has, so far, had a very nice history. He became the first member of the Crimson Tide to win the Heisman Trophy as the sport's most outstanding player, last season.

He rushed for 1,542 yards and 15 touchdowns during the season. He scored 2 more touchdowns in Alabama's 37-21 win over Texas in the Bowl Championship Series title game.

We all hope he gets better soon and that we see him back in the game as soon as possible and is able to play the rest of the season.

Tropical Storm Fiona Following in Hurricane Earl's Footsteps - Hurricane Earl's Path Not Changing

Tropical Storm Fiona is the newest tropical storm in the Atlantic right now. Hopefully, Fiona will be the last tropical cyclone for the 2010 hurricane season. That could actually be possible as there is only a 10% chance of tropical cyclone formation in the Atlantic Ocean currently.

There is a broad area of low pressure located about 425 miles west-southwest of the Cape Verde Islands. The shower and thunderstorm activity associated with that has changed very little in organization today. If there is any development there it will be very slow as the system is moving westward at near 15 miles per hour. There is only a low chance of this system forming a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours.

As related to Tropical Storm Fiona, there are a few watches and warnings in effect.

There are tropical storm warnings in effect for St. Martin and St. Barthelemy.

There is a tropical storm watch in effect for:

Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts, Nevis, Anguilla, St. Maarten, Saba, and St. Eustatius.

Hurricane Earl is being tracked very closely as any shift in the hurricane's movement could mean that the eastern seaboard must be evacuated. Currently, his path appears to be moving in such a way that he will barely graze the East Coast, however, if his movement shifts, it could cause tremendous damage. Residents living from the Carolinas all the way up to New England should be very aware of Hurricane Earl and they should be paying attention to any updates.

JK Rowling Donates $15.4 Million

Harry Potter has become such a famous subject among us today that just mentioning the name everyone knows exactly what you are talking about. The author JK Rowling has definitely made a name for herself through the books and movies. Now that she is super wealthy she has donated some of her hard earned money to a good cause.

JK Rowling donated $15.4 million to open a multiple sclerosis research clinic. She has done this to honor her mother that died from MS in 1990. MS is a disease that has to do with the nerves.

The thing that is great about this donation is the fact that JK has so much money and instead of using it on herself she is using it to help and benefit others. Sure she uses some money for herself, but the fact that she is donating so much of it really goes to show that she has a very kind and caring heart.

New Gmail System Streamlines Your Email Priorities

Well, Google has now decided to help make Gmail users' lives easier. Google has introduced a new feature to gmail that cuts your email clutter and gets you the important emails first.

As google explains, the new Priority Inbox divides a user's inbox into three parts: "Important and unread," "Starred," and "Everything else." When an email is received, Gmail will automatically determine what to label it.

The algorithm bases its analysis on who you communicate with most often, and whose emails you most often reply to. This allows you to look through your email without having to decide by looking at each one which message is probably the most important and which one you should read first.

If it accidentally mislabels one of your emails, that's no problem. You can just relabel it and Gmail will learn from that mistake.

This new system, at first glance, might make you think that it could too easily result in you overlooking the truly most important messages, however, the new system learns. It's like an attack robot that you can't kill, it learns from every new attack you try. That's what the new Gmail system is like, it learns from its mistakes and it learns from just watching you and who you email/who you reply to. Granted, it will take some getting used to, however, once that happens, it will probably go a long way in streamlining our chaotic email system.

The NFAAA is a system that helps to give information in the event of catastrophes like for example hurricanes.

If a Navy community needs to be evacuated, the Navy will use NFAAS to account for evacuated Sailors and Navy families. The system helps the Navy to find out where sailors are and give updates to their families. You can get more information on the NFAAS web site.

There is also an emergency phone number for the NFAAS: Navy Emergency Coordination Center at 1-877-414-5358 or 1-866-827-5672.

In case of a disaster a member of the NAVY or their families can get help and support if needed. If you have relatives in the NAVY, you should log in to the NFAAS system now and get acquainted with it. There is currently no disaster or emergency and you can prepare yourself now. If you are prepared you will be calm in the unlikely event of an emergency. You can also get official updates on any hurricane or tropical storm via the NFAAS.

Alleged Drug Cartell Boss "LA Barbie" Captured

Officials in Mexico stated that the alleged drug trafficker Edgar Valdez Villarreal, nicknamed "La Barbie" has been captured.

Edgar Valdez Villarreal was born August on 11, 1973 in Laredo, Texas. During his time in high school he excelled at football, but soon got bored with that and started to sell Marijuana on the streets of Laredo. He came from an upper middle class family.

Then he worked for the Mexican drug cartel Beltrán-Leyva as an officer. The Beltrán-Leyva Cartel is an organized crime syndicate that was founded by the five Beltrán Leyva brothers: Marcos Arturo, Mario Alberto, Carlos, Alfredo and Héctor. The drug cartel transports and whole-sells cocaine. They also produce marijuana and heroin and control many drug trafficking routes. Aside from that they smuggle humans, launder money, get money through extortion and kidnapping and if somebody does not follow orders or stands in their way they are killed.

The Mexican President Felipe Calderon is currently working on getting rid of drugs and drug related crimes in Mexico. As a result, many drug gangs are scared and are killing each other. So far the efforts were very successful: LA Barbie is the third major drug suspect that had been captured this year.

Bradley Cooper and Ryan Reynolds In New Cop Movie

Ryan Reynolds and Bradley Cooper are two very great and super busy actors. And now the two are going to be starring in a new comedy-action movie. The movie has not been titled yet.

The movie is about two friends in San Francisco who are also policemen together. The two friends are played by Reynolds and Cooper. As the story continues you find out that the fathers of the characters in the movie were partners in the police force before they retired. The fathers are forced off off their retirement in order to help solve a case with their sons.

The movie sounds hilarious already and I can totally see Reynolds and Cooper being totally funny in this comedy-action movie. We all know just how funny Cooper is due to his latest funny movie The Hangover.

Hurricane Earl is still a category 4 hurricane at large in the Atlantic Ocean. Earls sustains winds of up to 135 miles per hour and there are no signs that they will let down anytime soon.

Earl is still moving west-northwest toward the East Coast of the United States. Hurricane Earl's core is passing well east of the Turks and Caicos islands with 135 mile per hour winds.

There is a tropical storm warning in effect for the Turks and Caicos islands while Earl passes, and there is a tropical storm watch in effect fro the southeastern Bahamas.

That means that right now is not the time for a nice tropical vacation in the Bahamas, rather, it's a time for them to wait out the winds and the rain.

There are some fluctuations in intensity for Earl are expected, however, Hurricane Earl is forecast to retain category 4 status for the next day or two. Hurricane force winds extend out from the center of Hurricane Earl out for 70 miles, and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 200 miles from the center.

Tropical storm conditions are affecting the vicinity of the Turks and Caicos islands, but weather conditions will likely improve in these islands on Wednesday.

Storm surge, water above normal tides, accompanied by large and dangerous waves are possible in the Turks and Caicos Islands as well as the southeastern Bahamas. These conditions are also expected to improves soon.

Rainfall accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are possible for portions of the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico today. These rains could cause life-threatening flash floods and mudslides, so people in that area should be careful. Also, rainfall accumulations of 1 to 3 inches with isolated maximums of 6 inches are expected for the southeastern Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos islands.

The National Hurricane Center is Tracking Earl as he makes his way up the tropics and toward the East Coast.

These balls are safe for adults, however, around children they pose a choking hazard. Of course that doesn't mean that adults can swallow them.

People magazine calls them "Addictive," and RealSimple said that they're "much more satisfying than a stress ball."

United States Customs and Border Protection Getting Predator Drones to Watch With Them

Soon, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials patrolling the Mexican border will have an extra set of eyes to watch over the American frontier. These eyes will come in the form of Predator drones.

Recently, the Department of Homeland Security obtained permission to conduct unmanned border surveillance. This happened back in June. the first of the new fleet of predator drones will take off from Corpus Christi tomorrow. It will allow border agents to remotely conduct surveillance over the entire U.S.-Mexican border.

Predator drones are extremely useful in ariel surveillance. They can stay aloft for up to 30 hours. This means that the people using them are not having to constantly land them and refuel them. Rather, they have got 30 hours of fun flying time.

Reportedly, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection will have six drones in rotation by the years end. This will allow for extra eyes constantly watching the border.

The only question that remains is the discussion of illegal immigration in itself. After all, America is nothing if not the world center of immigration. America was founded by immigrants or decedents of immigrants. The only difference between them and illegal immigrants is that the founders' lines usually traced back to Europe while most illegal immigrants today trace back to Mexico and other Latin American countries.

Apple Event Sept 1, 2010

Since 2005 Apple has been holding an Apple Event in the beginning of September to go over the music side of Apple. There have been many rumors of what we are to expect at tomorrows exciting Apple event.

The event will be held in San Francisco, California tomorrow, Sept 1st. Everyone who has some sort of interest in technology and music should be super excited about this event.

It is possible that during this event a new iPod Touch will be revealed. Since the new iPhone came out Apple might be thinking of revamping the iPod Touch to be a little bit more similar to the new iPhone.

The new iPhone for example, has video calling available on it, and a camera in the front and back. What if a new iPod Touch was released that could do video calls too? That would be such a cool addition to the iPod.

The Blaze - A New Website Launch From Glenn Beck

After his "Restoring Honor" rally this weekend, Glenn Beck launched a news and opinion website called The Blaze. He says that it will be "a place where you can find breaking news, original reporting, insightful opinions and engaging videos about the stories that matter most."

It seems that he is making this website in order to preserve his own dignity after he apologized for calling Obama a racist. This got a lot of negative media coverage so maybe this was the last straw that made him really want his own news source. After all, why else would a man with so much influence as Glenn Beck want a website like The Blaze?

In 2009, Beck is reported to have earned a hefty $32 million through a large mixture of books, radio, TV, digital media, and speaking fees. He obviously has a big influence, so, the only question that remains is, how long will he keep that influence?

The reason that Beck said he was making this website, The Blaze, is that he was frustrated with the way the media covered his "Restoring Honor" rally this weekend.

"Too many times we see mainstream media outlets distorting facts to fit rigid agendas," he wrote on The Blaze. "Not that you've ever heard me complain about the media before. Okay, maybe once or twice. But there comes a time when you have to stop complaining and do something. And so we decided to hire some actual journalists to launch a new website."

It seems that his goal is to make a website of his own about politics, policy and other insight in order to spread his ideologies even more. He says that they came up with the name, The Blaze, because the image of flame is so powerful, and that "long stood for a burning truth." He says that The Blaze will pursue truth and that "of course we will make mistakes. Honest mistakes. And we'll be quick with corrections."

Dancing With The Stars Season 11

A new season of Dancing With The Stars is coming up!! It is so exciting and I can't wait to share the news of who the cast is. The new cast for season 11 was revealed last night! Last night there was an announcement during the show " Bachelor Pad" of who would be on the new cast of Dancing With The Stars. The new cast is as follows:

Florence Henderson from " Brady Bunch", David Hasselhoff a "Baywatch" icon, The Situation from " Jersey Shore", Kurt Warner NFL quarterback and Bristol Palin, Sarah Palin's daughter.

There you have it, all those are the members of the season 11 cast. We don't know yet who these people are going to be paired up with just yet.

If you are new to watching Dancing With The Stars or simply if you need a llittle refresher, the way the show works is that each celebrity gets paired up with a professional dancer and then all the couples have to compete with each other each week. There are eliminations each week. There is a panel of judges who judge how well the pair did and then the audience is given some time to call in and vot for the couple who they liked the most.

The pair with the lowest score is eliminated and doesn't get to continue with the show. So basically the goal of the couples on the show is to always to well and get high scores so they don't get eliminated and in the end can win the whole competition.

Hurricane Earl Path Toward East Coast

Earl is a powerful category 4 hurricane. Earl is currently moving with about 14 mph toward the west-northwest. Hurricane Earl's path is tracked by the The National Hurricane Center in Miami. Based on the forecast the Hurricane is moving towards the East Coast of the U.S. and might reach the coast by Thursday evening.

It is expected that Earl will gradually turn to the northwest later today.

The maximum wind speed is about 135 mph. Short gusts can be much higher. The category 4 classification is based on the Safir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Based on forecasts it is expected that Earl will remain in the category 4 status for the next few days.

The location at 11:00 AM was 21.2N 67.9W. That is about 205 miles east of the Grand Turk Island or about 1070 miles south-southeast of Cape Hatteras in North Carolina.

A tropical storm waring is in effect for Turks and Caico Islands. A tropical storm watch has been issued for the Southeastern Bahamas.

North Carolina and the states northward from that should closely monitor Earls's progress. A Hurricane watch might be required later today for North Carolina and further north. It looks like Florida is out of the loop as far as Hurricane Earl is concerned.

Hurricane earl is expected to move over the open Atlantic east of the Turks and Caicos Islands later today and tonight. As a result of the Hurricane the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico can expect heavy rainfalls, which can cause flash floods and mudslides.

The next minor update is scheduled for 2:00 PM and a complete hurricane advisory will be published at 5:00 PM by The National Hurricane Center

Troy Polamalu Gets Hair Insured for $1 Million

Troy Polamalu is an NFL football player. He plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and now he is not just famous football player, but he is also the man who probably has the most expensive hair in the NFL.

Whether you like his hairdo or not, is a matter of taste. But Troy for sure gets a lot of attention for his curls. His sponsor, Head and Shoulders, is probably very happy too about the added media coverage.

Lloyds of London has insured the Steelers safety's hair for up to $1 million. They did this as a part of his sponsorship deal with hair care provider Head & Shoulders.

Polamalu became a spokesman for the company as he has done several commercials for Head & Shoulders. His flowing locks, according to a press release from the company, can span 1,100 football fields end-to-end. His hair, measured normally is about 3 feet long. That's very, very long!

Polamalu is very happy about this deal. He says, "Head & Shoulders has gone above and beyond by insuring my Samoan locks for a cool $1 million dollars. This reinforces that my full and thick hair is unstoppable."

Polamalu's hair is so renowned and ridiculously full and thick that he has not cut it in over seven years. That's very hard to believe, however, when you see it you will definitely believe it. His hair is worth a lot to head & shoulders, so it's not that surprising that they would insure it for the coming NFL football season.

Hurricane Earl Becomes Category 4, Tropical Storm Fiona Forms in the Atlantic and Tropical Storm Danielle Weakens

Now we have three tropical cyclones over the Atlantic: Tropical Storm Danielle, Hurricane Earl and now, Tropical Storm Fiona. Earlier today, Hurricane Danielle weakened into a tropical storm over the northern Atlantic.

Hurricane Earl continues to move away from the Virgin Islands. There are currently quite a few watches and warnings in effect.

There are tropical storm warnings for Puerto Rico (including the islands of Culebra and Vieques), the U.S. Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands and the Turks and Caicos islands.

A tropical storm watch is in effect for the southeastern Bahamas.

Hurricane Earl is moving west-northwest at about 15 miles per hour. This motion is expected to continue throughout the night. Earl has winds of up to 135 miles per hour, so he is now classified as a category 4 hurricane. Some additional strengthening is also forecast during the next day or so.

Tropical Storm Danielle is forecast to weaken throughout the night, and is also expected to loose its tropical status in the night. However, Danielle will still remain a large and powerful cyclone over the far north Atlantic for the next day or so.

Tropical Storm Fiona is our newest member of the 2010 Atlantic tropical cyclones. She formed a few hours ago and is expected to move toward the Northern Leeward Islands throughout the night. Although there are no current warnings or watches pertaining to Fiona in effect now, a tropical storm watch may be required for a portion of the Leeward Islands later this evening or tonight.

Jesse James and Kat Von D Update

The cat is definitely out of the bag! Jesse James and Kat Von D are taking their relationship to another level. PDA is the word. The couple was spotted in Texas walking and holding hands.

Jesse James relocated to Texas since that is where is ex-wife Sandra Bullock lives. He moved there so that his kids could see their mom and so that he could start a new company there. Him living close to Sandra makes it easier for the kids to see both parents.

Jesse and Kat were also spotted very close and cozy in Las Vegas two weeks before the hand holding outing.

I think its very good that the couple is being open about their relationship and isn't hiding it or doing it in secrecy. Once secrecy starts becoming part of a relationship you know something is up and not normal.

The fact that Jesse and Kat are letting themselves be seen together and as a couple is a good sign.

Kat doesn't really have any problem with the fact that Jesse had affairs while he was married. She believes that people are only human and they do make mistakes. This is a good belief to have but she might also want to watch out, since Jesse could make the same mistakes again.

There are some people who cheat again and again. But then there are those that cheat and then really learn from their mistakes and never dare to do it again. I really hope that it is the latter in Jesse Jame's case. He seems like a very good person overall.

YouTube Looking into Pay-Per-View Movies

Being able to buy movies or rent movies on the internet has become a very popular thing nowadays and is really successful. There are so many people that would rather go online to watch or rent a movie than going out to get a movie to rent.

As technology gets better and better these days more and more companies are starting this whole thing of renting streaming movies online. Or having some sort of membership where you pay a certain amount and can watch a certain amount of minutes or movies.

Some example of companies doing stuff like this are, Hulu, Apple and Netflix.

All three of the above companies are having success and it is starting to appeal to YouTube. YouTube is owned by Google. YouTube is now thinking of starting a pay-per-view movie service before the year is over.

The Financial Times reports that the service would start in the US first and then get made into a global thing. If YouTube were to do something like this it would definitely be in competition with Apple, Hulu and Netflix.

YouTube has so many users that it would definitely profit from making a service like the above. But I think that people who are already Hulu and Netflix members wouldn't necessarily switch to YouTube's service.

It's definitely a competition world out there and no matter what, competition will exist. It's understandable why YouTube would want to do something like this, since its the new craze people are crazy about. Not to mention it wouldn't be a lot of work for YouTube to add such a great service to it's website.

French "Spider-Man" or Alain Robert Nabbed by Police on Top of Building in Sydney

Alain Robert, dubbed "Spider-Man" for his gravity-defying feats, is a French free climber who was arerested on the roof of a Sydney, Australia skyscraper today. He was arrested after he had scaled the 57-story building using just his bare hands and a bag of chalk dust.

Robert is 48 years old and he has been climbing for years. He ascended the 492-foot, twin-towered Lumiere apartment building in downtown Sydney in less than 30 minutes. He did the climb without any safety equipment or ropes.

On the way up, the French climber unfurled a banner which advertised the climate change site onhundredmonths.org which claims that there's only a limited amount of time left before man-made greenhouse gasses in the Earth's atmosphere reach an irreversibly dangerous level.

Onlookers were astounded. They clapped and whooped at Robert's exhibition of urban climbing, also known as buildering. It amazed people to see him climb so high without falling, and without safety equipment.

Sydney police, however, weren't as astounded or entertained as they were determined to prosecute him.

Police nabbed him when he arrived at the top of the building. He is being charged with risking the safety of another by climbing a building and entering enclosed land.

He has been granted bail and will appear in court on Friday, September 3.

This is not the first time that Robert has gotten into trouble with authorities for his outrageous stunts. Last year, Robert was fined $670 for illegally climbing the Royal Bank of Scotland building in central Sydney and in 2003 he was arrested for climbing up the iconic Harbour Bridge.

When asked about the trouble he got into for climbing the Royal Bank of Scotland building in Sydney, Robert said that he did not believe that he was risking the safety of others. This actually makes sense, who's safety is he risking, if not his own?

Robert has conquered structures in places ranging from New York to Sydney, buildings from the Harbour Bridge to the Sears Tower.

He discovered his talent for free climbing when he was 12 years old. He was locked out of his parents' apartment in Valence, in southeastern France. Instead of waiting for his parents to come home, he scaled the eight stories and jumped in through an open window.

Printed Oxford English Dictionary is Dying - An Attempt to "Save the Words"

The Second Edition Oxford English Dictionary is a huge dictionary. It takes up 20 volumes, and has a hefty price tag of $1,165. Only 30,000 copies have been sold over the past two decades since its release in 1989. The problem is that people are using online resources more and more. This means that the market for print dictionaries is falling away by larger percentages every year.

The Internet version of the Oxford English Dictionary gets around 2 million visits per month from subscribers who pay almost $300 for a year's access. The reason that online resources, such as the online version of the Oxford English Dictionary, are being used more and more is that it's a lot easier to type a word into a search box on the computer than it is to grab your magnifying glass and heft a big book onto your lap and search for the word you are looking for in a regular dictionary.

Also, the online version of the Oxford English Dictionary gets updated by editors every 3 months. That means that it stays very nicely up-to-date on modern English in addition to the bunches of obsolete words that also make up the Oxford English Dictionary.

Nigel Portwood, chief executive of Oxford University Press, himself isn't sure that the third edition of the OED will make it into print. Some 80 lexicographers have been working on the third edition OED for the past 21 years and they have about a decade of work left. It could happen that the third edition OED will only make its debut online, however, the publisher has not made up its mind yet.

For the moment, the company's vast line of other smaller dictionaries, such as the single-volume Oxford Dictionary of English, remain pretty stable in their sales, and it's unlikely that they will be dumped anytime too soon.

One thing that the people at Oxford, and other word enthusiasts, are worried about is the disappearance of words. The majority of English speakers use only 7,000 words in their communications. There are, however, hundreds of thousands of words and definitions of words that aren't used. These are gradually disappearing, making our society less and less literate. You might think that knowing a lot of big words is unimportant, however, it's actually not.

The bigger a vocabulary a writer has, the better they can communicate. With a limited vocabulary book become less descriptive and more plain. If you read works by writers such as Charles Dickens and William Shakespeare you will see that they are very descriptive in their writings. If you understand what those words mean, you will enjoy their books a lot more.

Books like "Great Expectations" used to be bedtime stories for young children. Storytellers used to read them to people and their meanings would be self explanatory. If you read "Great Expectations" to someone now, chances are they would not understand what the story is about and they would probably get up and go watch TV.

In an attempt to "save the words" the Oxford University Press has developed a website called "Save the Words" which is basically a collage of obsolete and archaic words which are gradually drifting into oblivion. When you arrive at the website you can "adopt" the words by promising to use the word you chose in conversation, correspondence and as frequently as possible to the best of your ability.

This is a great start, and hopefully the Oxford University Press will be able to gain the attention of a lot of people who recognize the importance of keeping the English Language the way it has been for the past hundreds of years.

Best Dressed at The Emmy Awards

Whenever there are big Hollywood events, one of the biggest and most important part of them is how the stars dress. The awards obviously matter too, but what dresses and shoes are worn are major points not to mention who is best dressed practically gets more glory than whoever wins an award at the event.

The Emmy Awards had their winners and nominees for awards but now lets look over who wins the best dressed award and who comes in second place.

Whoever I pick for these two awards, as you could say, win the awards in my opinion, it doesn't mean that it is true for everyone who looked at the outfits, its simply who I think is best dressed. Everyone has different tastes and opinions, especially when it comes to dresses.

First place winner Heidi Klum. Her outfit was perfect in my opinion. This is what her outfit consisted of, a Marchesa micro mini dress in black and spiked Christian Louboutin heels in black also. Then to top off the blackness of the outfit she wore a Lorraine Schwartz ruby and diamond necklace. Truly fabulous outfit. Everything just went together so well and looked like perfection. She had her hair in a nice up-do and she seemed to literally be glowing.

Second place winner Lea Michele from Glee. This star wore a black Oscar de la renta gown that was ruffled. It looked absolutely stunning on her. She also wore a Lorraine Schwartz necklace that just added the perfect touch to her outfit. Lea looked fantastic and her pick of dress was definitely the right choice for her great figure and her beautiful face.

As you can see I love black dresses. You just can't go wrong with the color black. It is fitting for almost any occasion and it looks so classy.

Hurricane Earl Projected Path Going Towards New England

Update:
There are no major changes in speed and movement of Hurricane Earl.

However, the government of Antigua and Barbuda has replaced the hurricane warning with a tropical storm warning for Anguilla.

As well, a hurricane warning is in effect for: St. Maarten, Saba, St. Esutatius, British Virgin Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rican Islands of Culebra and Vieques.

A hurricane watch is in effect for Puerto Rico,

A tropical storm warning is in effect for Anugilla and Puerto Rico.

A tropical storm watch is in effect for Turks and Caicos Islands.

Strengthening is forecast for Hurricane Earl in the next 24 hours.

Hurricane Earl has become a category 3 hurricane. The hurricane has sustained winds of 125 miles per hour. That's a pretty big storm. Hurricane Earl is expected to become a major storm very soon.

Hurricane Earl's projected bath is tracking up towards New England. Hurricane Earl is being closely watched. It's possible that the hurricane will impact in southeastern New England late Thursday night going on into Friday night.

Hurricane Danielle passed and went further out into the Atlantic, but the water is still a bit rough from her passing. Earl seems to have taken her place. Although, Earl is a lot stronger, and has a lot higher chance of impacting the United States.

People living from the Carolinas northward through the Mid-Atlantic and New England should be paying attention to Hurricane Earl and the forecasts as they get updated throughout the week. Although at this time it appears that Earl will just bring a glancing blow, the potential for a larger impact cannot be ruled out yet.

Hurricane Earl's "cone of uncertainty" brings the storm well within reach of New England. This means that people in the Providence, Rhode Island area should definitely be ready to take precautions if necessary.

Currently, Earl is still off the coast of Puerto Rico. It's possible that the hurricane will make a change in the direction that it is headed, however, that's pretty unlikely so if you live in the New England area, you should be prepared for a pretty big storm. University Scans Student ID Cards to Take Attendance - Not so Widely Accepted

College has been legendary for high school students. High school students have listened to the stories that their older siblings tell about their college life with wide open eyes. All the stories of parties, football games, sleeping late, and, best of all, no attendance requirements.

Well, the time has come for the above stories to become things of the past. Well, not the partying, but the no attendance requirements. That part is disappearing.

Northern Arizona University has begun using electronic scanners to track students' attendance at lectures. This means that if you don't show up, the university will know about it. Starting today - the first day of the academic year - students will be required to swipe their ID cards upon arrival at large lecture classes.

The university has been citing low graduation rates and large numbers of five-year students, so it seems to be secure in its decision. Many of the university's students are not, however.

A student told NPR, "I don't see why we need to be told what to do anymore, I feel like it's a move toward... treating us as though we were juveniles." This is, I think, a valid reason for disliking the change. After all, previously, if you did not attend a lecture, it was your problem. If you didn't know what was discussed, you could fail the exam. This made most students regularly attend their lectures.

"We do have to say to a lot of students that it really is important that you do show up to class. You are not going to do well if you're not here," NAU associate professor Brandon Cruickshank told NPR.

If you are going to university, you usually have a reason for being there. Usually you go to university to study a subject so that you can accomplish something in life. If you have this reason for being there, you will usually show up.

I don't think that it should be up to the professor to punish you if you are late or don't show up. If you are in college, you should be responsible for yourself and your actions. You are the one, after all, whom it affects.

Emmy Awards 2010

Alright Ladies and Gentlemen, the time has come for the 2010 Emmy Awards. Aren't you just dying to find out who won what and what show is doing the best? Well no worries we will try to keep you updated as the Emmys proceed.

This year the Emmys are being hosted in the Nokia theater in LA, California. The glitz and glamour of that theater right now is just brilliant. Dozens and dozens of beautiful gowns and dresses fill the theater and don't even get me started on the fabulous jewelry and makeup.

So now something you have all been waiting for, Eric Stonestreet from Modern Family wins an Emmy for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, and Jane Lynch from Glee wins an Emmy for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

We all knew that Glee was going to win something, I mean they have had quite an influence on TV these days. They have won one award, but don't think that is all they are going to win. We will keep you posted if they win anything else.

Modern Family has also become such a popular show and you all have to admit that Eric Stonestreet is a great actor and has really made the show enjoyable.

Hurricane Earl Projected Path - Map: North-Northwest

UPDATE:
Hurricane is now heading toward the northernmost of the Leeward Islands. Conditions will be deteriorating soon.

Tropical Storm Earl became Hurricane Earl earlier, and the hurricane seems to be strengthening. The hurricane is currently a bit off the coast of Puerto Rico. It's winds are blowing at up to 85 miles per hour. And it is moving west-northwest at 14 miles per hour.

A watch was actually issued by the National Hurricane Center for Hurricane Earl. The hurricane has been forecasted to gain strength as is heads towards the Leeward Islands.

The Hurricane Earl watch was given to the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico today. It has also been given to Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts, Nevis, Anguill, St. Martin, St. Maaten, St. Barthelemy, Saba and St. Eustatius. Basically, most of the nearby Caribbean islands. The British Virgin Islands were also warned of the Hurricane and the areas are expected to have hurricane weather conditions in the next 24 hours.

Some people were also evacuates as within the next 36 hours hurricane conditions may be seen on the islands.

Hurricane Earl is expected to continue moving north-northwest up the Atlantic Ocean. The hurricane is not expected to make landfall, however, it will pass pretty close by some islands and they should be prepared for some pretty severe weather.

Hurricane Earl's projected path has actually changed quite a bit since it changed from a tropical storm to a hurricane. At first, it was predicted that the storm would head straight toward the Caribbean Islands, now, however, it is expected for the hurricane to pass by them and to just continue northward. That shows that not all predictions are accurate and you should be prepared if you live in a region that has had hurricanes strike.

Apple iPad Now Shipping "Within 24hrs" - Supply Finally Meets Demand for "Magical" Device

Apple has finally reduced the estimated shipping time for all six of its iPad models (Wi-Fi 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, and Wi-Fi + 3G 16GB, 32GB and 64GB). The estimated shipping time is now "within 24hrs" on the Apple online store.

This is great news for all the people who have been waiting for their iPads to arrive. If you buy an iPad now, you're sure to receive it much faster than original buyers. Previously, Apple promised that iPads would ship within three to five business days. A few weeks before that the Apple Store cautioned would-be buyers that shipments would take up to seven to ten business days.

All this was the cause of the enormous demand of for Apple's new product. It appears that production hass finally caught up with the demand for the iPad.

The demand was very "surprisingly strong" when the iPad was first released in the United States. Sales hit the 1 million mark in 28 days, the 2 million mark within 2 months of the release and the 3 million mark by the end of the first month.

Apple had to postpone the international launch of the iPad by one month, until the end of May, due to the demand in the United States alone. This kind of demand for a new product has never been seen before, not even with the release of the first iPhone. Stores were sold out within hours of opening their doors.

The supply rate is now obviously meeting the demand for the device, and it will probably stay that way until a new version of the device is released.

Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato Update

Disney channel's hit movie Camp Rock came out with a sequel Camp Rock 2. This movie will be the last time in a long time that we will see the Jonas Brother's performing with Demi Lovato.

The new Camp Rock movie is supposed to be better then the second and it was also a lot of fun for the cast to shoot. The only thing that was not so good about the shooting was that they had to wear shorts and summer clothes in freezing weather. Camp Rock 2 is supposed to take place in summer but it was not summer when the movie was shot. The cast still had a blast and bonded very well.

Demi Lovato is going to continue with her TV show and the Jonas Brothers are going to continue with theirs. They all just want to continue having fun and growing up with their fans.

Demi really likes the fans that she has and wants to continue having them as her fans, so right now she is going to continue doing what it is that her fans are all crazy about, which is her show, Sonny With a Chance. Demi is so thankful for Disney Channel giving her the show she has now and she wouldn't do anything to throw it away.

Carmelo Anthony's Twitter Account Gets Hacked

Carmelo Anthony recently posted a tweet on his new Twitter account that said, "Im back on! My account was hacked. Thanks twitter for getting me str8. Jst finished my first movie in China now im headed back to the States."

His account was hacked, and someone was posting tweets that weren't his. This news came out after it seemed that he had posted photos of cash and after he seemed to be playing around with Kat Stacks on Twitter. Later, it was discovered that his account had been hacked and that he hadn't been the one posting these things.

Carmelo Kiyan Anothony, aka Melo, is an American basketball. He currently playes for the Denver Nuggets in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Since entering the NBA, Melo has become one of the most well-known and popular players in the league.

He was named to the All-Rookie team, All-Star three times and to the All-NBA team four times. Melo has led the Nuggets to two division titles and to the playoffs every season since his rookie year. In 2009, he helped the Nuggets advance to the Conference Finals for the first time since 1985.
